Topic
In this Art & Society talk, Him Lo, artist, community worker and initiator of Ching Chung Warehouse, will discuss do's and don'ts of artist-run community spaces.
Before any project gets started, it is important to consider community life and which role community work will or could take up in that particular situation. Him Lo will start the conversation by sharing experiences made when working on the Ching Chung Warehouse initiative and will address the following questions: What is community work? Why are artist groups interested in community work? When did such initiatives start in Hong Kong? Do communities need art-run community work? What kind of community work is needed?

Him Lo is an artist, pursuing his individual work, and a devoted community worker. Formerly a curator at Hong Kong House of Stories, he has initiated in 2015 the Ching Chung Warehouse in To Kwa Wan and is currently curator at CHAT.
